Novak and tekin combo for tamiya 3 speed
Hi guys
Have the F350 with the 3 speed
and have been offered brand new novak havoc 3c esc and a tekin 35t brushed motor for $200
I was going to go with the mamba max pro and LRP x12 21.5 turn brushless combo but had issues in my short course with
the castle/lrp just not working together properly
any advice would be great
i am going to run 3 cell incase you were wondering

My one peice of advice is.....Stay away from Novak!
That it pretty overpriced for what it is, the havoc doesn't have the drag break that you'll need and is extremely restriced with its programming.
You could go for a Castle Sidewinder for $75 and then pair that with a good hand wound brushed motor for around $70 (or Homles Hobbies is doing custom winds with old stock cans for $50 at the moment) and still have $$$ left over for a external BEC (which you will need) and even a battery or 2.
If you have having issues with MMP & LRP, look at a different motor. Trinity/Epic's BL motors are good, same with Tekin BL's.
Or use the MMP and put it into brushed mode and get a brushed motor.

thanks for the advice
i want to use the MMP not usre which dircetion to go with it though Brushed or Brushless??
The motor does not need to be a torque monster as Im using the 3 speed box. But want a motor that can handle being wet im not talking about
driving underwater like a sub but definately some river fording action or mud bog thrashing
budget wise of around $100
thanks in advance

Yup, Glenn's on the money.
Silver can will be fine, you should get enough reduction through the 3spd to get your crawl on. If you want more torque, a rebuildable 35t with good brushes and the right springs would be the go for not much $$$
But......3s + 27t x high gear = FUN!
Plus you can get brushed motors wet with minimal fuss, they just chew brushes up quicker and get rusty.
Keep the bushing/bearings lubed up and make sure the brushes dont get too short and you'll be apples.
