Re: Winches...........
my only suggestion with this concept is that you lose the ability to steer when winching and that can have an affect on your chances of getting out of something or not.

Re: Winches...........
Already thought of Scott lol
yeah it isn't ideal but it is a good cost effective way for someone who wants a winch for playin or to enter potential winch comps / teams events.
This will only be used for my rear winch for decents, self recovery etc where steering is of way less importance than the front mount.

I like the idea, 'cos I'm a tight arse when it comes to spending $$$. Now I'm off to make a winch out an old 645!

Nah jaycar wouldnt have one, a hobby shop would (OZRC, Mild 2 Wild RC, hobbyone, HEsupplies etc)
Or you could make one yourself.

Re: Winches...........
yea, i think i have got around the issue of running 2 seperate winches with out losing steering. i have 2 options i think. one is easier and and a little more exy. the other is cheaper but still should work well.

Re: Winches...........
no point starting a new thread. was just wandering what people are using as winch lines & how strong is it i managed to snap supposed "50"lb braid yesterday winching at the end with jarrod there is still probly 40 odd meters left, i might go with az's idea and give platting it together so its triple strength & see how thick it ends up. but i thought id just ask the question for other ideas

Re: Winches...........
Just run bigger braid Ads...i've got some 100lbs #### that i'm yet to break.
I've even rubbed it on a rock to try and make it fray and then break, it frayed but didnt break for a while.
