Re: Winch Truck Build
got in and swapped out for the metal gearbox gears, loktited all bolts etc & gave it a general clean all round.
az put a couple extra hook hoops on the front bar, mounted up the rc4wd fairlead. i got stuck in and painted it all aswell as the beadlock rings.
heres some pics as, gonna let the paint go off a bit more before i try refitting it to the chassis.

Re: Winch Truck Build
its real close, its not duplo though, cant think of the brand auto refinishing paint. i got 2 coats of primer, green and clear on at the moment.
gonna mount it up for the moment so i can dummy fit the body to sort out the electrics and get the magnet body mounts finished off. once thats all done, hopefully by tomoro, i will pull it off and smash it with the rest of the clear.
yea chuck stoked with the color and how my painting turned out on this one hopefully there wont be too much green on the rocks after sundy
hopefully the new tyre and rim package rock up so i can get the new rims painted up aswell.

Re: Winch Truck Build
clear coated the sh!t outa the barwork probably used 90% of a big pressure pack can, that should go off and harden in the next couple of days so it should hopefully last the morning session on sundy
rebuilt the driveshafts, wired up the switch for the winchs(pics to follow) & mounted it on a custom ally plate i made up and painted to match. made up some custom green ruler plates for the battery mounts. fitted up the fairlead properly and made a rubber winch hook catcher like the 1:1s.
put the bar work & wheels back on & finished mounting the body just gotta wait for the glue to go off now. oh & put a few accesories on
my new accesories, should be a; shovel, pick, high lift, axe & fire extingusher.
the switch mount plate come up alright i thought.(cheers troy for sorting us out with the switch idea, managed to not think, so the switch pushed forward activates the rear winch and vice versa for the front )
the "rubber band" setup for the winch bar looks ok but it works a treat

Re: Winch Truck Build
the body is on and to say the least im over the moon with how it has all come together
pulled the shocks down(proline PowerStrokes) and changed (or filled filled up ) the shock fluid and changed the smaller of the 2 springs to the stiffer one that comes standard on the honcho shocks, to try cope with the extra wieght she's put on recently a bit better, may have to go to the stiffer bigger springs aswell, but i will run her sundy and go from there.
all finished

Re: Winch Truck Build
cheers mate, just something trivial, but in race spec she tips in on the scales at 3.6kg but never fear apart from the bar work, the rest of the weight is pretty much from the sliders down, with battery mounts and wheels wieghts

Re: Winch Truck Build
the rifle was a bit of an after thought, i had a spare hi-lift and that left over from my accesories bits so i just stuck it to the back while i was waiting for the body mounts to dry.
i hope i do the thing justice after all thats gone into it recently.
I just need to remember a few sayins like;
its only the first scratch that hurts & scratches add character

Re: Winch Truck Build
the Iroks and beadlock steelies showed up today just waitin for the clear coat to dry up and they'll be together. i'll bring them satdy for a trial run see how they go, only got 80g wheel wieghts but i will take some air out of them before sealing them up to help bag'em a bit more. these things dwarf the swampers and the micky T's are bigger than the Iroks again the swampers are killer bit of tread tho in my opinion very hard to go past

Re: Winch Truck Build
headed out for a scope of whites hill, has overgrown and changed quite a bit since the last time i was there. got through an hour no dramas and had some fun on a bank just driving up n down with some winching up the tougher bits. But the bad juju struck again. i noticed no drive from the rhf wheel, only had a quick check but the wheel seems tight and the cv is spinning with the wheel, so i am thinking something internal, diff lock?or inner part of the axle shaft. will get it all stripped down tonight and have better look. will be interesting to see which "heavy duty" part failed these are the axles
https://www.rpphobby.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=AX30464 & these diff locks
http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/ax30500.htm
as well as heavy duty diff gears and upgraded hexes.

Re: Winch Truck Build
My money is on a busted CV pin, or hex drive pin ads...Both are fairly easy fixes. Get some piano wire the right diameter and cut to length, or if you're lazy Gunnar on RCC makes replacement pins for USD$1 a pair plus $1 post.
I doubt you've done a locker, usually if they go you'll lose front drive totally as they strip out the plastic locker housing.

Re: Winch Truck Build
Now worries Ads, was my first thought when you said that you had lost drive on one wheel only...
Dont bother going for stock replacements, Make your own from Piano wire or buy some one from gunnar on RCC. Both of those options will be a #### load stronger than stock pins.

Re: Winch Truck Build
righto, ive ordered a set of axle tubes, set of cvd pins and hex pins from gunnar on RCC. also ordered some new axle casings and diff gears to underdrive the rear of the honcho there wont be much left that isnt "heavy duty", modified or upgraded on the old girl. once thats sorted, i might have a job and some $$$ to sort out a standard honcho tow truck and trailer set up
