New ESC for an AX10
After going out for a wheel today at the quary, I soon realised the 6year nmh batteries are cactus.
Well from whatAzwa had informed me i need a new esc as my current 1 wont handle lipo's.
My problem is i went to the hobby shop at Beaudesert rd, Coopers Plains and there were too many there and plus i dont really understand all the technical jargen.
Does anyone know of a good esc i can get of ebay or any local hobby shop for an AX10. Plus what size lipo's would everyone reccomend and what charger would everyone reccomend.
Is there an ebay seller that does good deals.

Google your esc & see if it'll has a lipo cut off setting
if it does just get some batts...
If not
The q is brushed motor or brushless....

The esc isnt suitable for lipo's unfortuantely.
The new esc lipo controller at the hobbye shop was $85 and that was a genuine axial brand unsure if thats any good or not.
If i replace the esc and use lipo's will i need to change the motor as well. I think the motor i have is a brushed motor and seems to work ok for what i want it to do.

Get the IMAX 6bac off eBay just got 3 for mates $53 I think for aus seller with deans adaptor you can get Hong Kong supplier for $32 but they never turn up spend the extra $20 . As for lipo you can get a lipo alarm on eBay it plugs in to the balance plug and goes off to let you know when to Chang batts before its to low about $14 .

Does it say no lipo or is it just no lipo cut off . I think if is no lipo cut off as long as you put the alarm on and stop when it goes off you'll be ok . We are talking 2s I hope no more .some one correct me if I'm wrong .

Re: New ESC for an AX10
Any esc will handle lipos, it's just if they have the correct low voltage cut off to stop you from over discharging the lipo's.
They don't care where the voltage comes from, just whatever voltage you're putting through them. If you're currently running 6cell nimh/nicad packs, then you can run 2s lipo.
Just get a lipo alarm like BIGBOY said to plug into the balance leads to let you know when it times to charge the pack.
If you want to buy a new esc, stick to one of these. Don't bother with the others.
Castle Creations Sidewinder or Mamba Max Pro, Tekin FXR/FXR Pro, or a Holmes Hobbies BRXL, all of those have true crawler capability (drag brake for hill decents and instant reverse). The Castles can run brushed or brushless (if you want to go brushless, go for a MMP), the Tekins and the BRXL are brushed only.
As a rule of thumb, don't trust what most LHS' tell you or try to sell you. Crawling is a niche market and the average hobby shop has no fawking clue what they are on about.
EDIT: Also as the others have said, make sure your charger can charge lipos or you're gonna have a bad time.
