Honcho - Maiden Voyage
OK So I got my kit with a few extras. This was my birthday present from my family. I got big bro's advice on options to upgrade due to him breaking them.
I went with the Tekin 35T Crawler motor
Spekturm 3 Radio and receiver
MIP Metal drive shafts
Savox Servo with 20kg/cm strength
RRP Diff lock gear solid metal
Metal transmission gears
Metal 4 Link Truss
For my birthday, scored a metal servo arm from Scott and he also gave me the piece de resistance a new winch (but am sticking with the non winch group for the next comp due to my novice experience)
To name a few. I have only just done the chasis and am awaiting a time to visit Scott (Aperture) to do the electronics as i can't solder to save my life. So hopefully he will assist mewith getting it running. I'm going to paint the body in a unique pattern (I ripped it off a guy's idea but thought it was sexy) I'll show it when i finish it. Ifpictures worked here is my new toy. I'm sick of watching videos of the driving, and just want to carve up the slopes.

Re: Honcho - Maiden Voyage
I agree with everyone, I know it looks nice and shiny but lets face it the proof of the build is in the driving and i'm keen as mustard to get this puppy dirty. I just have to wait until the 9/7/2011, to go to Scotts to have the electrics done, I'm a bit dislexic when it comes to soldering etc. Also the paint will have to wait until then because he has a Dribel, Drivel, Drizzle ? to cut the shell out cleanly. Then its masking up and spray that sucker!!
I can;t wait, if the painting turns out as good as the picture i have then it will be one hot Honcho to scrath the proverbial out of. The paint will stay a secret till its finished, just to add some spice to the thread.
And I guess if i have to be a winch vehicle then i will, I was hoping to drive with my bro for the first comp, big brother showing little brother the way to do it before unleashing the beast, but will be guided by the masses.

Update - Honcho Build
OK, so, Scott came up and helped me with the wiring/soldering, all ESC, Receivers, Battery Terminals etc are now wired for sound and waterproofed. Attached winch and added driving/assistance lights next to it. All lights are hooked up with LED's and awaiting wiring, this weekend coming.
After wiring took it for it's maiden test run to see what would happen and it was a flawless take off, except, the amatuer nature of the driver didn't make it look too graceful over the garden rocks, but as far as the vehicle goes, it was a success, and Scott was drooling at the prospect of scratching my shiny new toy, but he was held at bay, he is so keen to see my bullbar take on a strict diet of rock and dirt.
First coats of paint went on shell today, i'm happy with the outcome and only a little bleeding that will either chip off or might be covered with my sponsors. PICS are of winch and masking job for shell. Will update with the shell completed. All in all, it will be racing ready for the up coming competition.

Re: Honcho - Maiden Voyage
Well Scotty and I went to White Hill for a road test, and well for half an hours run, on some testing climbs, the Honcho is no longer the shiny shmick beast it was.
One gully caused a nice little gravel kiss along the passenger side, which gave it ia new pin stripe.
It drove very well and the gear worked well, only dramas was slipper clutch was annoying me with lack of torque where it counted. Can't wait to join the convoy of you all in up coming comp. Was going to drive with bro but his slipper clutch became cactus within the first hill climb, so it was a solo run. Here are a few pics of the after effects, and i didn't even whince once, just thought yeah here are the war wound starting.
