Beno's Sierra Scaler!
Ok so im new here.
I bought a 1/18 HSP Crawler, the little thing is awesome. almost a direct copy of the Losi MRC. So far i have just started driving it, over the weekend I bought a Proline Hummer body for it from a stampede, fits almost perfect. I will be stretching the wheelbase slightly however to make it work better. I will probably build a full length chassis and stand my shocks and springs more upright. Hopefully this will stop it from body rolling and saging under torque. The truck looks good and works really well.
If there is anyone in the Capalaba area after someone to go for a scale drive with let me know, always keen.
Headed out to the quarry near me and this is what i came out with, some pics.
my missus tagged along and worked the camera, lucky for me coz im useless on the end of the camera lol.
Here a few pics, the wheel base is starting to annoy me now, and i need to make the body slightly more secure, but that will come with a better chassis and more mounting points. it should stop the nose sitting high then.

welcome to the garage mate.
The mt cotton quarry is great, i guess you found the epic track from the last comp
post up when you are heading out again, i would dare say there would be someone down there willing to go for a run with ya.

Cheers for the welcome mate,
Yeh found the tracks, awesome little trails. need to weight my front tyres for one or two of the hill climbs/steps but otherwise she eats em up! Once i stretch the wheel base ill lower it also. Made some scale stuff last night.
-working on a highlift
-made a shovel
-Roof rack
-Swag
-tool box for the roof rack
-Also tried my skills at a snorkel.
Ill probs head back out to the quarry so if anyone else is keen let me know and we can catchup!

Re: Beno's Sierra Scaler!
This is the latest incarnation, got a homemade chassis and body from azwa and originally from wideload and now mine lol.
Gotta work on the ride height and general stability of it and then ill look at making some more mods, painting it and so on. I think its sitting a bit to high so i will probably lower it and need to mod the bumpers as the tyres scrub on them and bind up

That was originally Bazuky's before i bought it off him...lol That thing is a serious whore...
Good to see its still alive...if you want to replace the body its a Speedway Pal one...you can get them on ebay from time to time.
To get your ride height down, run the stock shocks in drop. Take the external springs off and just run some thick (60wt+) shock oil...
all down travel, no up travel...

Re: Beno's Sierra Scaler!
from the look of the photos i'd suggest cutting the foams to soften the tyres a little bit to get a bit more grip.

Re: Beno's Sierra Scaler!
what a little tramp that thing is mate change tyres to 1.9 flat irons then just fill the tyres with lead and set it up like troy said and drive the tits off of it but if you bend the cage just go to suzuki ad buy some genuine brakeline for a zuke cause thats what the cage is made of

Re: Beno's Sierra Scaler!
Haha cheers fellas, i always end up with the whore lol. i mean lol.
There are no foams in the tyres at the moment they do bag well now the weight of the cage and chassis is there.
Troy, i tried her as droop setup only she likes to lean alot, maybe i need some thicker oil as said. I will have to give it a shot. the other alteernaitve is to add shock hoops sort of and that will help lower the whore (i think its got a new name ).
Adz, sounds good mate, when you stumble across them next put em aside and next time we catchup can sort it out.
bazuky, good to see she is still getting around hey?
Cheers for that mate, once i get it working well i will most probably just wheel it lol. Doubt ill get a new body, if anything ill cut the rear tub off and make some sort of tray, or ill put a drop bed in the back.
Blacklion, cheers mate. Shes running no foams, the hsp tyres are pretty crap but they are starting to soften up with some use. troy suggested wd40 to soften them, might be a last resort.
Ill probs be out at the quarry this weekend testing if im not out in the hilux
If anyone has a spare 1.55 rim or 1.9 rim with a small tyre on it let me know as id like to buy one for a spare (static only).
Cheers
